2016 CHINA-SNU International Workshop

Monitoring-based wind engineering of bridges and structures

The 2016 CHINA-SNU international workshop was an academic event that focused on current research activities and interests of researchers from China and SNU. It was held in Seoul National University Civil and Environmental Engineering building 35 on the 2nd of September 2016.

Several topics were discussed by the speakers such as health monitoring of bridges and structures; field measurements of wind characteristics; numerical simulation of typhoon wind field; experimental simulation in the wind tunnel; and serviceability evaluation of running vehicle to strong side-winds.

Professor Limin Sun from Tongji University presented the topic “Monitoring of wind effects on cable-stayed bridges” and Professor Hea-Sung Lee of Seoul National University discussed about“Reconstruction of dynamic displacement and velocity using measured acceleration”

Professor Lin Zhao of Tongji University presented about “Wind field prediction and wind-induced performance of flexible structures based on on-spot observations”. Professor Mingshui Li of Southwest Jiaotong University discussed about “Field measurements of natural wind characters in mountain terrain of southwest China”.

Professor Ho-Kyung Kim of Seoul National University presented about “Wind-related field monitoring of long-span bridges” while Professor Ledong Zhu of Tongji University discussed about “Wind tunnel test and numerical analysis of aerodynamic static and dynamic instability of a super long-span cable-stayed bridge.”

Professor Jun-Ho Song of Seoul National University discussed about “System identification of structural parameters using Bayesian network”. Professor Hao Wang of Southeast University presented the topic “Wind effects on long-span cable-supported bridges based on structural health monitoring”.
