This year’s Korean Society of Civil Engineers civil expo and conference was held in Jeju International Convention Center last October 19-21, 2016. Professor Kim Ho-Kyung participated in a special session where he introduced the outline of research projects that aim to develop technologies for risk assessment of cable bridges and constant securement of resilience against natural and man-made disasters. He also presented the research on proposed guidelines for the vehicle safety and roadworthiness of the cable stayed bridges during high wind conditions. PhD student Han Sung-Wook also had his presentation in a separate session with a title: “Wind-resistant design of noise barriers in expressway”. Meanwhile Kim Se-Jin participated in the thesis poster event with an entry: “Probabilistic estimation of frequency of wind-induced vehicle accident on a bridge for cosswind”. Lastly, Ralph Acebedo participated in one of KSCE’s international programs, the Civil Engineering Leader’s Network (CELeN) meeting. |
